Direct digital capture

While film is still a viable solution, direct digital capture devices have recently proven to have more advantages when digitizing art. Imagewise uses a Better Light 8000 digital capture device. That means you will get incredible detail and color fidelity from your original art. The Better Light is one of the best direct capture devices on the market today and can exceed the amount of information recorded than that of the abilities of film. Our scans are a first generation capture.

What is a Better Light 8000?

The Better Light 8000 is a device which fits behind a 4x5 camera in replace of a sheet of photographic film. The device records or scans the image in front of the camera and sends the information directly to a computer. The computer displays the image on a monitor as the scanning device records the image. Once the image is recorded, exposure values, lighting and color can be evaluated and corrections made on the spot. There is no need to shoot a “bracket” of over and under exposed film. No film processing. Best of all no waiting until the end of the day or next day to see if the image is right!
